What are the benefits of membership in the Eastern Lands and Resources Council?

An important goal of the ELRC is to foster communication and strengthen professional relationships among its members and with federal officials in related fields.   The ELRC hosts two meetings per year.  At these meetings, members have the opportunity to interact directly with federal and state officials to discuss issues of national, state or local concern. 

The ELRC offers a forum for professionals from state and federal agencies and associations to discuss land management and natural resource issues facing the eastern United States, and how federal, state and local policies affect the day-to-day management of public lands.  Common areas of concern include:

The annual Spring Meeting, held in Washington, D.C., is a joint meeting with the Western State Land Commissioners' Association (WSLCA).  This meeting provides an opportunity to interact with colleagues of western states who are grappling with similar issues.

Who may join the ELRC?

The membership of the Eastern Lands and Resources Council shall include, but shall not be limited to, all the states adjacent to and east of the Mississippi River. This includes the states of:

Associate Membership Non-Voting:

Non-profit organizations which promote public lands management and records-related activities may apply for membership to the Council. A candidate for membership in the Council shall submit a written request for membership containing the name, address, and telephone number of the duly appointed representative of that organization. All business and professional memberships shall be approved by the membership of the Council.

How can my state become a member?

A state shall become a member of the Council by paying the annual dues to the Treasurer upon receipt of the annual dues statement.  Please contact Lynda Godfrey, President ELRC for more information.

What are the annual dues of the ELRC?

Each member state shall pay annual dues in the amount of $750 per year. The Treasurer shall invoice each member state no later than June 1 of each year payable no later than September 1 of the same year. Associate members shall pay $600 annual dues.
